Water Pressure Regulators

For as important as water pressure regulators are to protect the water pump and plumbing, why don't the manufacturers install pressure regulators as standard equipment?

Has any one added it to the internal plumbing of their camper?
Pros, cons and thoughts?

  • Think of it this way. You put 100PSI on your plastic fresh water hose at 85 degrees in direct sunlight. What do you think will happen to the hose? YUP! explosion. Most people don't want to replace their water hoses once a week, so they put the pressure regulator at the faucet. Dropping the pressure through the hose to around 40-45PSI.
  • If they Will sell unit with tires that were barely adequate, or put in a check valve instead of a shut off valve, why would you think they care much about protecting anything if it will cost another dollar??
