I recently replaced the tires on my RV and started wondering what usually happens to the old ones.
Does the tire shop normally send them for recycling, or do RV owners need to find a recycling facility themselves?
I know tires contain rubber and steel, so I was curious how they are handled after replacement.
What do you usually do with your old RV tires?
I've also seen where shredded tires were mixed into asphalt and used to make a running track around an infield for track and field events. The traction on that track was incredible.
Responsible shops will recycle them or sell them as used for farm vehicles etc. Irresponsible shops do all kinds of things. A lot also depends on the laws regarding discarding tires. Some states do not allow the sale of used tires.
Last time I had tires replaced, the shop handled the recycling but the. charged me a $2 or $3 fee per each tire for recycling.
