- ThomasFourExplorerThanks all! I appreciate all the help!
- Clay_LExplorerThere are two types of grayish putty tape. One is butyl and the other is not butyl. The butyl tape is sort of stretchy and the other is not. The non butyl tape may be called mastic tape but I am not sure about that.
- Teacher_s_PetExplorerThe gray putty tape was originally called GaskaTape, it was developed and marketed by an Elkhart neighbor of an ours in the early 60's. Try ordering it from Johnson's RV Surplus in White Pigeon, Michigan. On looking it up I was shocked, the last I purchased from one of the parts liquidators about 15 years ago was $2.25 a roll. I actually still have a roll or two left in the shop in a zip lock bag, still good the last I checked. Kinda like one of those Christmas Fruitcakes, lasts forever, if kept in an air tight package or container.
- dbatesExplorerIn our area Ace Hardware carries it. Lowe's doesn't.
Dave - harold1946ExplorerIn the paint department with all the other tapes.

Where should I look at Lowes or Home Depot for butyl tape?
The Butyl Tape department, of course. :S - RVhikerExplorer

- BarneySNomadButyl tape at Camping World. You can also find it almost any RV supply store. When it starts to squeeze out, just take a plastic putty knife or other device and cut out the excess.
Barney - donn0128Explorer IIAny RV parts store will have it. Amazon is not always the best or cheapest.
