- sgfryeExplorerhad both, prefer table and chairs. never like dinette booth in our first TT. uncomfortable for wife and i. i eventually took dinette table out, turned one of the benches parallel to wall and basically made a L-shaped sofa that my wife loved to lounge on when i stretched out on the living room sofa. to each his own ..
- BurbManExplorer IIDepends on what suits you...the dinette in our Sunnybrook was awful, so we took out the benches and replaced with free standing chairs. Gave us a lot of flexibility to move the chairs around. We liked it so much, we kicked ourselves for not doing it sooner and couldn't understand why anyone would have a booth dinette again. We were so convinced that table and chairs was they way to go that that we ordered the new Terry with a table and chairs....and hated it so much we took them out and installed a U-shaped dinette. Go figure.
- Mickeyfan0805ExplorerI've actually been muddling around with this one myself. We despise our U-shaped dinette. The cushions don't stay on the bench well, now that the kids are older it really only seats 3 instead of our 5, etc. The open space and flexibility of our table and chairs would be a real advantage. For us, however, it's not only interior but exterior storage that would be lost. Our hoses, power cables and levelers are all stored under that bench. I simply can't afford to lose that space, so we're staying with what we've got.
That said, in a larger 5th wheel with more available storage, I'd opt for the table and chairs over the bench in a heartbeat! - Dick_BExplorerSince there are only two of us we took one of the chairs out for more wine storage. The chairs can be turned to view the TV or other reason.
- valhalla360NavigatorSince the chairs are crammed into the same space, moving the chairs around...doesn't really happen or at best is awkward.
The storage is the biggest issue (we never used it for sleeping anyway).
We are actually planning to switch the current rig back to dinnet seats. - BarabooBobExplorer IIIWe have a 17' trailer so space is important. I did not like the clearance between the table and the counters but we did like having the option of using the bed. I made a new table that is the shorter than the original so that it was easier to get in and out of the dinette. Most of the time it is only my wife and I so the smaller table works out for us. During hunting season a couple of my 30 something daughters camp with me so I just put the original table top back in.
- buckyExplorer II"We don't need the bed space tho I better act quick before the wife thinks about bringing a grandkid."
Cracked me up. No way to win that one, mine wants to bring 2 at a time. I've agreed but only if they are potty trained. I've about run out of that one, the last one is mostly out of that now. The cool thing is that they become little people about the same time so they are much more enjoyable. - FULLTIMEWANABEExplorerBesides the foam compacting and becoming uncomfortable (an easy redo), I think older folks or those on the slightly larger (height, not just girth), find them awkward getting in and out of, especially if medical ails come into play.
For the younger generations working on the road they find it more beneficial to do a table/desk set up with more ergonomic type chair, as well creating extra storage for files/printer/computers/tech gear modification.
To each their own and you keep what suits you best! - Edd505ExplorerChairs are way more comfortable, move them where your comfortable. Table collapsed takes less room, add the leaf for added seating and get out the folding chairs from under the bed.
- jkwilsonExplorer IIIScooting in and out of a dinette is a pain. With a chair, you can turn it, pull it back, push it in or whatever you need to make it work.
