06 Dodge 3500 Dually 48RE died..
After towing my Carriage Cameo for 71,000 miles my 48RE transmission died. Lost 2nd gear. I just had the transmission rebuilt with a billet shaft, must stronger valve body and TC. Cost to rebuild $460...

They do a lot of good if you adhere to a splash and fill maintenance regimen. The drain plug transforms a messy time consuming job into a clean easy procedure. My transmission fluid runs 160-190 normally and will jump to 220 on a long grade in the summer pulling 10k pounds. Fluid looks perfect all the time.
