After towing my Carriage Cameo for 71,000 miles my 48RE transmission died. Lost 2nd gear. I just had the transmission rebuilt with a billet shaft, must stronger valve body and TC. Cost to rebuild $460...

I'm just talking from my own experience over the last 13 years. Had the deep pan and still burned up two trans. Went to a Ford 6.0 32 row trans cooler (that thing is over kill) and I run 145° to 180° and 188° on the long hot grades. I pull 17K. The deep trans pan collects heat from the engine raising the trans oil temp. I've pulled a 5er now for 150K miles.
