With the fictional problem I have presented, I don't see why that wouldn't work. I don't even have the kayak yet. It's a wedding anniversary gift from my wife and I'm expecting delivery of it in the next couple weeks. The toy hauler doesn't even exist yet either. I'm trying to plan ahead for a future purchase and was just getting my ducks lined up before hand.
