I am about to buy my first 5th wheeler. Have a question about the supply of power to the rig. There is a 40 amp supply to the rig, is it direct from the battery? If so, will this drain my truck's batt...

yup, you are right. I figure it like a trickle charger when towing and I use a battery charger when I have electric or leave plugged in to 110 when I can.
