My 2 cents, you picked up a used unit which is what I do nowadays also. Im guessing you dont know when the bearings were serviced last? Inspected by dealer could be anytbing.
I would at a minimum pull a couple drums, check bearing grease and check brake lining thickness. That will give you a starting point.
As others have said performance can drop off pretty good when pads are out of adjustment.
Haven't tried to lock mine up but make sure it hits plenty hard with full application. Best of luck and enjoy your new rig :)
