This ^^ Close the main ceiling vent at the unit and you'll get more to the vents. The main vent is mainly for "rapid" cooling of the main living area. Close it and it forces better air through the ducts.
Understand that, but the my point was that with it open it didn't cool the main area "rapidly" or otherwise, at least enough to be noticed after 25 minutes, and the thermostat never shut the a/c off, so it never saw a temp under 80 degrees. I will have a thermometer with me next time to measure the temp and not rely on the thermostat.
