2" coupler problems

Without explaining what you mean by "hard to use," I can only guess at the issue.
My guess is that you mean it is hard to release, and that is a common complaint. Many do not understand that there is a safety feature to prevent the trailer bouncing off the ball that comes into play when the ball exerts pressure on the shoe at the back of the capture mechanism. If you try to lift the trailer before unlatching, or if the TV is pushing backward, the latch locks down.
The cure is simple: chock the traler wheels so it can't roll forward and put just a bit of pull on the trailer, THEN unlatch before attempting to lift the trailer free. The latch should release easily with a single finger pull.
