BTW, you could ask what our favorite color of the 6.0 PSD was, and the thread would still end up like this.:)
And for a justifiable reason.
Not in my case. Glad I didn't lose any sleep from the conclusionists' posts. - Me_AgainExplorer III

The company I retired from had hundreds of these powerstroke diesels. I would like to have the money they spent trying to keep them on the road. I would buy something else.

Before you take too big a glup of the Blue Kool Aid may I suggest some reading.
Powerstroke Forum 6.0 engine problems
You can look at the rest of the 6.0 sections also to get a fair view of what you might be getting into.
If you know diesels, and can turn a wrench more power to you. The 6.0's don't have a great reputation for reliability, stock.
If you get a great deal, and know diesels and can turn a wrench, you could end up with a strong TV.
You could check this group out also.
Bullet Prof Diesel
If you are a diesel newbie I would steer clear of the Ford/Navaistar 6.0 and 6.4 diesels. The GM and Ram diesels of the vintage are much more reliable. - 4huskersExplorerI just got rid of one; 10 mpg towing. After $8K in the last 18 months I gave up the fight. If you have the option I'd go with the 6.7. We got a '14 F250 and there's no comparison towing.
- B_O__PlentyExplorer IIIf mileage is really a big concern maybe a Honda and staying at a motel could be a better choice. Almost all trucks will get between 6 and 11 maybe 12 mpg tops when towing. It won't matter whether it's gas or diesel. That's what they get. Towing for a couple hundred miles the difference in fuel cost from the best to the worst really isn't much. JMHO.

Fuel cost are not the issue with the 6.0, it is the maintenance cost to keep it on the road.
Really? Maybe he's already bullet proofed it.
To the OP, depends on the 5'er. High profile vs mid profile and weight. Generally 10-12 mpg. - Camper_2012Explorer
