Interesting.
I pull a 30' 5er. 10'000lbs GVWR
Truck is 2006 Crew cab short box Duramax.
Tires are 265/70R17 BFG Rugged Trails.. which If I recall correctly are good for about ~6400 lbs per pair.
My pin weight is 1340 dry and I figure ~1700 with a normal load. I am definitely over my GVWR but under on my RW Axle and particularly the TIRE Rating...
Bottom line is that it rides fine, does not sag appreciably and as such, I'm good with that. Adding a Roadmaster Active suspension helped a lot.
There is no question that the GMT800 trucks are not really geared for pulling a 5th wheel over 30' and over 10k lbs GVWR. Anything older than say 2007 or so...the 30+ 5'er are just too damned heavy as were the Travel Trailers. They are getting lighter now but one wonders if at the expense of being as safe..?
But I simply love my FIfTH WHEEL and MY TRUCK...and with oil at 58/bbl with scarce work, I cannot afford to buy a new dually to pull my dream 5'er...a CEDAR CREEK.!!
one day maybe...
cheers,
stk
You have a diesel the OP has a gasser. They are not the same truck when it comes to towing. Enough said
