I disagree with your statement; at least in some installations. My last two B&Ws and a previous hitch, I can't recall the brand, both required that the hitch be installed a minimum of two inches forward of the rear axle to intentionally transfer some of the weight forward for better balance and steering. I do not know what hitch you use so it may be different.
i've got a B&W companion setup and there is a slight increase in the front axle weight when the trailer is hooked up, but it's not much. In my case it's about 2% of the pin weight.
In the OP's case with a 2400lb pin that's only 48lbs.
