I have the factory 5th wheel prep package in my 2014 3500. Camping World got me the picture frame adaptor for the Reese 21k hutch they put in for me. Noribkems at all. 5er rides level with good clearance when hitched up. Hitch is easily removed when I need my bed back. Very pleased with this system.
Where did Camping world get the picture frame adapter? If I may be so bold to ask, what did it cost? I know that Reese sells theirs for a little over $300 and MOPAR is more expensive.
Glad it worked out for you...I really wanted to use the new frame and the set up with how everything locked down, and like you said, I remove my 5er hitch, then the picture frame adapter and bed is clean.
I have no idea where they got the picture frame adaptor nor how much it cost. They added $800.00 to the cost of my 5er for the hitch. There is a whole story about the cost/price of this hitch. But suffice it to say that the dealership was just happy to see me drive off the lot never to bother them again after they installed the hitch. BTW it was CW of Chattanooga.
Once you get the adapter, it's really a piece of cake to put into the bed of the truck. One may have to "tweek" on their hitch lock down points a little, or adjust the picture frame adapter, but all in all, it's not hard to put in or take out of the turck. It's much easier to get now than it was 6 to 10 months ago..it was ridiculous, Ram/Mopar dropped the ball big time with offering the 5er/GN prep package and when trucks came out, no one could get the picture frame adapter so that they could utilize the prep package. I've seen MOPAR price on picture frame adapter and depending on availability, prices are from $450 to at one time, $575:R..Reese cost is $313 with free shipment I think.
