I ordered our '13 with the factory hitch package. The dealer threw in the picture frame adapter for free. It's still in the box. I have no intention of ever using it.
I installed the Andersen Ultimate 5th wheel hitch. I can describe this hitch with one word. Amazing.
I was skeptical at first since it's unlike any 5th wheel hitch on the market. I did extensive research and spoke with Andersen reps. After towing with it, I will never go back to a conventional 5th wheel hitch. It's just that good.
No jerking or chucking. Extremely easy to remove from truck when full use of the bed is required. Installs in under 2 minutes (yes, I timed myself).
Specifics I like:
-Simple
-Extremely strong
-Uses trailer's factory hitch/king pin
-King pin block is easily removed so trailer can be towed with conventional hitch (if you take your 5'er to a dealership for service, etc)
-Inexpensive
-Truck bed space loss is minimal. Small items can fit under the hitch, if necessary.
-I have more than enough space between bed rails and trailer nose. Need to measure, but it looks like about 8".
-No grease/lubrication is needed because there are no moving parts. Hitch stays dry and clean.
I certainly understand the confusion and skepticism out there over this hitch. It's something people aren't use to seeing. But that's the way it is with everything new and different.
