I have the same trailer but a different tow vehicle (TV) and can tell you a couple of things: I scaled the rv back from the dunes with our 1400# sandrail in it with all of our weekend stuff including a full black tank and the trailer weight was 12900#. My 2 fresh water tanks were just about empty but I added that weight to the actual scaled trailer weight to get 12900#. So I basically added the actual scaled weight plus the unit weight of anything that was not full like my 2 on board fuel tanks and fresh water tanks etc. I had an Equalizer 14000/1400 WDH (which towed fine with that hitch) thrown into the deal when purchased but after doing lots of research I determined that that hitch was not strong enough. Fought the dealer and had them swap me a Blue ox sway pro which is rated at 20000/2000 which is the only hitch that I found that was rated for that TH TW. I also purchased a Sherline trailer tongue scale before I fought the dealer to prove to them and played with it in the driveway a lot. Empty my tongue weight is 1400#. I also found out that when I back my sandrail in it did not change the TW AT ALL! When I was in the driveway I filled up my black tank and reweighed it with the car in it and had a tongue weight of 2400#. That unit has a heavy TW if it is fully loaded. Not sure that his TV is rated to haul that heavy of a TH. Also, I had to upgrade my truck hitch since it was only rated for a 10,000 trailer. I found a 2" receiver hitch made by Curt Mfg that was rated for a tongue weight of 2,750# or trailer weight of 20,000 (I believe). I have no sway issues towing this TH also. Sorry for the piss poor paragraph. I think I posted other info about my TH on this forum if you are interested.
Great info! Especially since you have the same trailer and had similar problem... and all of your research! Several have posted about the type of sway bar and many have mentioned Blue Ox. Thank you so much!
