It sounds like you have already made a decision. I would suggest that your final decision not be based on any salesman info (no matter how nice or informative they may sound) or for that matter what we may think. Take all of the advice you have been given & then read the facts published from both manufacturers.
For example, most people would probably say neither of these are intended for "full time"; but many live full time in lesser quality RVs. Sales people can be honest & biased, full of BS, & outright lie. For example, the Eagle is insulated for full time & the Columbus is not. Facts show the Columbus has better R factor, so you make the decision.
I have never owned either of these 2 brands. I have heard good things about both & I've read isolated issues with both. I do have a Columbus on order after 2 years of following their reviews. That doesn't mean I think you should get a Columbus.
The nice sales person will not help if you have a problem after purchase. It will depend on the service dept, & that will be the nearest to where ever you are at the time of need.
Read the manufacturers web sites & compare info; then buy the one that has the best floor plan & features that meet your family's needs.
I am sure either will be great. Good luck with your decision.
I think this is all good advice. People tend to push the brands they own(ed). I have owned both and I think both are made well. Certainly don't let a salesman define what is 4 season or 3 season. I think these are both 4 season trailers that would be good down to single digits.
The Columbus salesman that said you should not be fulltimimg in it is also right. I do not think either are made for fulltiming long term (10 years). I think either is all right for fulltiming a year or 2. Just realize you will take a big $$ hit after a year of fulltiming. With kids (even good kids) it will be well used. If you want to fulltime in it long term, look at something like a Mobile Suites (twice the $$).
Having owned many RVs, I can tell you the salesman (no matter how nice he is) will have no (or little) say or input on the servicing. Get the one you like best and with the best floorplan. Good luck.
