Yes, there are some spacers that don't seem to do anything that you can take out.
What one finds out later is that the bolts to the brake calipers are now blocked and cannot be removed once the truck is lowered. Then you have to loosen the axle U-bolts and move the axle out of the way to do the brakes. Not a deal killer but it will add work or cost to a brake job.
