2015 Hemisphere Lite

HI, we are looking at trading our 2011 Cougar for a 2015 Hemisphere Lite made by Forest River. We have never considered the Forest River product before as its not really near our house. We like this floor plan and the quality seems a step up from our Cougar that we have never really been satisfied with.

Anyone have any opinion on the Hemisphere line?

Now take that same $53,092 and build a 32' 5er that weighs 10,010 dry and see what you get.

    Very well stated
  • Wife and I walked thru a Salem Hemisphere Lite 282RK TT couple weeks ago. Were not impressed. JMHO but the Hemisphere Lite line seems to be basically a low to mid level trailer. It's just a big trailer with low to mid level construction and amenities. Take the 337BAR for example. It's 39'-7" OAL. Dry weight of 10,010lbs. Jeff Couch RV Nation has one for $35,521. MSRP $53,092. That's a really low MSRP for a 39'-7" 5er. And 10,010lbs dry is IMO low for a 39'7" 5er. Question would be what corners were cut to achieve both those numbers?

Now take that same $53,092 and build a 32' 5er that weighs 10,010 dry and see what you get.
  • When we were looking at 5th wheels and trailers, I felt like the build quality was pretty much the same between Forest River, Keystone and Dutchmen. I would say that these three manufacturers are in the same price range. We decided on our Cougar based on the floorplan and dealer. With all of our research, a good dealer is probably more important than the manufacturer.

We have friends who are on their second Keystone product and have loved both. That helped in our decision making.

Are you unhappy with your Cougar?
  • Isn't there a "FROG Forum" (Forest Rivers Owners Group). Might have some interesting reading there.
  • I don't want to rain on anyones parade, but I have had 2 new Forest River Products. Had a Cherokee TT and a Sierra 5er. Troubles with both. A friend of ours in Missouri had troubles with both of his Forest River products also. I have vowed to never own a Forest River Product again. Maybe they have improved in the last 2 years but I won't take the chance.

    Good Luck and Happy searching.
  • I guess we are not going to get any replies. Thanks anyway.

I, too am looking at the Forest River Hemisphere 286RL, and haven't been able to find any reviews. Hopefully someone will will come up with something for us!
  • I'm curious what kind of responses you'll get. We've been looking at some of the Heritage Glen models, which appear to be mirror copies of the Hemispheres, exactly the way Rockwood and Flagstaffs are the same units.
