2016 Montana fifthwheel rear cap

As you might already have seen from previous posts in the fall, I'm thinking about trading from my 40' diesel pusher to a fifthwheel. I haven't done anything over the winter other shovel snow but now I'm starting to look again. I am looking at Montanas because I had a 2004 Montana and it served us very well. I'm also looking at the bighorn because I have a camping world 20 minutes from my house that sells them. One thing that really upset me with the 2016 Montana is that you no longer get a fiberglass rear cap unless you order what they call the legacy package for a extra $6000. This is ridiqulous. So from the rear, a $80,000 fifthwheel looks like a entry level fifthwheel and if you want your $80,000 fifthwheel to look as such, now it becomes a $86,000 fifthwheel. I just don't get it.

  • I would sure be looking at higher end used RVs like Mobile Suites, Excel, HitchHiker and such over any new Montana.

  • There is the dilemma! You either pay the price and get what you REALLY want, or you settle and pay a lesser price and get something you'll be disappointed in forever. Or as suggested above, you "settle" for a different make-model, but deep down inside you always wish you had what you really wanted to begin with, and although nice, the one you settled for is STILL not the one you really wanted.

So, my opinion? Pay the price, get the one you REALLY want and then you will forever be happy! Hey! It's just money? right? When you die ... face it... you can't take it with you ... neither can you take your debt with you! Get the $86,000 model and be happy!
  • What else is included in the legacy package? 6,000 30% off is 4,200. Chris
  • For that price you should look at slightly used MobileSuites. They will hold their value much better.
