A shorter box is appealing, but thinking if I'm starting from scratch should likely go with long box

If you want your truck to ride smooth and your 5th wheel to ride smooth.That also keeps both of them out of a bind. Then go first class and buy: 1st choice a 25k airsafe hitch. Second choice is a Hensley air hitch with the binkley holland head.
They don't give them away. But you get what you pay for. I have had the 25k airsafe hitch now for 10 years. I couldn't ask for a better hitch. You don't know the 5th wheel is behind you.
