Sounds as though you feel the RAM should distance itself from the Dodge marquee. I wonder why? Just because something was re branded doesn't make it better or different it's still the same vehicle and company producing it. Examples Chevelle became Malibu which originally was just a trim package, Chevyll became Nova, Corvette was known as Stingray for a while.
I'm actaully more questioning on how this guy believed there was a Diesel engine of "Dodge" or "Ram" manufacture in these trucks. Dodge/Ram or whatever you want to call it has been marketing the **** out of the Cummins engine under the hood for
30 years. Also, there never was any Dodge/Ram Diesel engine that I know of, so I just wondered, and asked, how he got that confused. He also seems to be implying that there's something inferior about the I-6 layout, which is also ridiculous when nearly every semi on the road is an I-6, along with numerous other heavy duty vehicles (construction equipment, gensets, medium duty trucks, boats, etc.).
There's absolutely nothing wrong with any of the modern pickups, which if you could take them back to 20-30 years ago, people would be absolutely astonished with their capability. That someone could be driving one of them and so unaware of their competition just comes to me as a huge surprise, especially for an enthusiast who would seek out information in a place like here.

First part of your statement is right. But you missed the second part by many years.
My 2012 says “Dodge” on the dash. And most people I know still refer to the truck as a Dodge. Even MOPAR guys like me slip up occasionally. I still don’t know why they changed the branding (other than the thought of really spinning/selling off on of the brands).
Just curious, but where does your truck say "Dodge" on it anywhere? Mine has a Ram head on the hood, no branding at all on the tailgate, says Ram 3500 on the side, and the dash and interior also has the Ram head. I know our trucks aren't the same generation, so I'm genuinely curious.
As to my truck, I never called it a Dodge even when the new ones were Dodges, as I never really cared for Chrysler in any era. I bought the truck specifically for the Cummins engine and manual transmission. Ford had a new engine out in 03 that we all know now was a complete disaster, and I really don't like the GM front suspension (and they, too, discontinued their manual trans), so I ended up with a Dodge/Ram. No regrets on that one after learning what happened with the 6 liter Fords, although I do wonder what it'd be like to have one of the last Chevrolets with a Duramax and a 6 speed. Maybe I should have considered that!
