Truck not available to get ramwr info. Just curious for general information what's maximum pin weight rating from those with the truck? Looking for neighbor who purchased such a truck. Neighbor is looking at 5th wheel with 3400# pin weight.

IIRC the newer Ram 25 series have a 6,500 RAWR, so if the truck had a ready to camp 3,200 on rear axle, you could add 3,300 more. If the FW 3,400 pin wt is dry wt, it probably will be too much pin when loaded. You would have to weigh truck, getting separate axle wts, to know for sure, amount on rear axle.Jerry

3400# is 1 ton at min. What is the 5ers max wt? IMO that will determine if it will be DRW territory.

A 20% tongue weight roughly puts the fiver at 17,500 GVWR. Dually 3500 at the very least.

That's the wrong trailer for that truck. I have a 2018 1-Ton RAM and with a 2800 lb. pin weight plus a generator in the bed and a few things in the back seat. My rear axle weight is 6780 lbs. at the CAT scale. That's barely under the 1-Ton axle rating. JK

Tell your neighbor to open his driver's door and look at the yellow sticker. That will show the actual payload rating for his truck. Ignore published specs as they are for stripped down trucks that nobody has (single cab, 2x2, no options at all).

It use to be the difference between the RAM 2500 and SRW 3500 was a leaf or two in the rear spring pack. However RAM has now separated the two with completely different rear suspensions. The rear axle GAWR shows their capacity recommendations for the two. Should have got a Hemi, oh I mean 3500, and a DRW for a DRV.

When we bought our 2017 Bighorn 3575el with 16K GVWR, the selling dealer in Junction City, Or actually asked about our planned tow vehicle.
