2019 Hershey, PA RV Show campgrounds

We will be going to the RV show sometime during 9/5/19-9/15/19 with another couple. We are looking for campground recommendations around the area. We do not want to be on the RV show site if that is even possible. Don't need to be right there, but within 30-45 minutes away. Probably do the show a couple days and then other sites.

Thanx
  • We went to the 2018 show and stayed at the KOA northeast of Hershey. About 20 to 30 minute drive.
  • We’ve been there several times and stayed at Herssheypark Camping Resort (formerly Hershey High Meadows), Elizabethtown KOA, Jonestown KOA and Drummer Boy in Gettysburg.

All worked fine for us. HersheyPark will be expensive and crowded but is closest unless you dry camp on the show grounds and it has a shuttle to and from the show. Drummer Boy is farthest away but is near all the Civil War attractions in Gettysburg.

The PRVCA.org website has show info and a campground listing for more info.
  • I would look around the Lancaster area, plenty there.
  • We've stayed at two campgrounds in the general area, Old Mill Stream Campground right next to Dutch Wonderland and what now is the New Holland KOA. Between the two we preferred the campground in New Holland. It's in Amish farm country, away from a lot of traffic and town activity. They are both about a 45 minute drive to Hersey.

The Hersey show is great. A ton of RV's of all kinds and a lot of RV accessory vendors. I think you'll have a really good time.
  • Back in 2009 we attended the Hershey show. Couldn't find an RV park, within reasonable distance, with an opening. Someone suggested contacting Thousand Trails, they have/or had an RV park about 6 miles from the Hershey show. We contacted them, got 3 nights free stay and only needed to take a 1-1/2 hour sales pitch.

Worked out just fine for us. They may still be doing that????
  • We have stayed several times at Western Village RV Park in Carlisle, PA. Clean and a decent price with a pool. It is conveniently located off of I-81.

Look in the Lancaster PA area, you are about 40 minutes to Hershey and in the center of the Amish country.
Old Mill Stream is a nice CG, I have held2 rallies there.
