2020 Ford F-250 Question

I posted this on another forum but will recap in case you missed it. A good compromise is a 2020 F350, 4X4, long bed, crew cab, diesel with 18 or 20 inch wheels and all terrain tires. That combination will get you a 12,400 GVWR. My payload capacity is 4562 pounds, plenty for many medium to lighter weight fifth wheels. It's a perfect match for our new Pinnacle, which after loaded for a trip still gives us around 1K pounds capacity to spare. The long bed gives a better ride, empty and towing, in my opinion plus you get a 48 gallon fuel tank vs 34 in the short bed. A biggie in my books. I'm really pleased with how it tows the Pinnacle and it drives smaller than the dually I had before this truck. May be all in my head but I think it is because I'm not having to account for the extra 2 wheels in the back.

I'm looking at a F-350 more than the 250.

You have to work the numbers based on actual trailer weight and pin weight. Brochure weights are pretty meaningless. Just remember that a loaded 5er will have a pin weight closer to 20% of the trailers GVWR.

It's my understanding that the only difference between an F250 and 350 is the towing capacity (axle, springs etc). And that upgrading the F250 with the tow package is essentially making it a 350. Given there is very little price difference between the F250 and the 350 - and that the "upgrade" will make any price difference a wash, why not look at the F350 SRW? But, will it tow your FW safely? You'd have to run the numbers. There were major improvements to the 2020 line that increased the tow capacities on both far beyond previous model years. Ford is leading the pack right now in terms of tow capacity, HP and foot lbs torque.

I do think this package does exist, and does include stronger wheels, with an axle upgrade. The OP needs the truck in his sig, for the FW he is towing.

This thread will probly get moved, but what exactly is a "High Capacity Tow Pkg?"

Gee, what is the weight of your Bighorn?16000 pounds max weight? 2716 pin weight dry or loaded and wet? I believe the max tow capacity of an 2920 F250 is 15000 pounds.
