Except "half a mil" may be a gross *understatement*, depending on brand, etc...:W

The Smart cars on the decks of HDTs are used as they can be loaded
from the side, and meet the width requirement.

There *ARE* HDT owners who load jeeps, etc. on the deck of HDTs, which
usually remain tandem (due to the load). The vehicle must then be loaded from the rear.

and.....that HDT will tow anything you want - and blow past the DP motor homes - as well as being serviced at any truck facility.
Not so for the MH.

X2 with Cummins 12v98. We travel a lot as full timers over 35,000 on the fiver in my sig over 70,000 on TV got at same time. These rigs are not the same as a decade or so ago. They travel great 26 states last summer. So pick your poison.

I can tow any fully loaded DRV within axle and combined weight ratings of my little RAM Dually.

Class A are more road worthy, but are not good at sitting in one place for a long period of time. 5th wheel or any trailer are better at extended stay for that reason.

Thanks Rob, learn something new everyday. I tend to stay up here in Northern Michigan during the summer. We are not yet retired, or full-timers out on the highway a lot, so dont get the chance to see what you are talking about.

If you want an education, go to the Escapees HDT forum and spend hours with Big Trucks with cars on them and Big Trailers.

I would do whatever it takes to stay with a 5th wheel, as we don't care for the Class A motorhomes at all.

X2, we do the same thing for the same reasons, lots of times the wife wants to go and do something different than what I need to do so two vehicles work better not to mention she doesn't want to drive the CCLB Dually shopping.

You could get a custom made New Horizons 5th wheel and tow it with a new F450 and have -- maybe 300K wrapped up in both.

You won't need to tow a car behind the trailer or have a smart car on your HDT --- just unhook at the campground and go shopping.
