We're 4x4 all the way......why? because DH LOVES to go off the beaten path...we love to go up in the hills where very few have gone. Yes, 4x4 will get us out of bad situations --- some places where there is no cell service to call for a tow. If you stay on the freeways, stay on the pavement all the time, and stay where there is no snow/ice, then it might not be necessary. We just bought a used Dodge 4x4, 3500 quad cab...... we get 21.8 mpg on the highway (not towing). We will be towing this summer.....can't wait to see what great mileage we get. :) :) (yeah, I know -- I live in a fantasy world -- but anything over 8 mpg will make me happy)
