caysea7254, I see your profile says your from Indiana. Not knowing what part of Indiana your in, do you remember what last winter was like? Let me remind you! Cold, snow, snow, snow! In February (the 20th to be exact), it warmed up enough to rain and flood everything because everything was impacted with snow drifts, and then it turned cold again. I've had 4x4 vehicles for some time now, and this is the first winter I used 4x4 almost all the time! We live in the country (see my profile to the left) and work on the North East side of Indianapolis. The 4x4 was worth every penny! Our car couldn't even get out of the drive way!
Towing? Nah, never use 4x4. Except a few years ago, in March we went to Norfolk, VA. The day we left, Indiana got hit by a blizzard and it was a blizzard all the way through Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina. The weather finally changed once we got over the mountains in Virginia. You guess it, we towed the trailer with 4x4 the entire distance, pulling a 31 foot Springdale TT. Oh the joy! at 25 mph for hours and hours and hours! Why so determined! Our daughter was getting married, she was in the Navy, and was stationed at Norfolk.
If for no other reason, let "him" have the 4x4. There's an expression that says, "If momma ain't happy, no one is happy." That's so true. But "he" is grump because he didn't get the truck he really wanted, I don't think you'll want to be traveling very far with him! He'll begrudge the truck until the day you sell it .... I know ... it's just a "man thing" we men do! It's part of who we are!
Get the 4x4 and live happy. Have the dealer install a runner so you can step up easier. We did on ours and it looks nice and makes getting in much easier!
