One time was backing the trailer up a gravel incline to park at a NASCAR race. The whole rig started to slide down the incline. I put in in 4WD low and was able to back up the incline.
Even backing up the relatively mild incline with a gravel surface to where I park a utility trailer next to our house, I have to use 4WD, or the rear wheels will dig a hole in the gravel. The rear end of trucks are relatively light, so driving empty, I run into seemingly innocuous situations like that where I need 4WD.
