I will always be running 2WD, since that is all I need and I don't even think about that old saying about value.
I do not need it. It does not bother me to not have the decal. Also when the roads are slick and I have to go, I borrow the wife,s Toyota. Obviously all the farmers around here run 4WD because they need it.
It is whatever suits your needs and you feel comfortable with. If the gotta have it is the driver then you need 4WD. Have fun out there .
