2WD or 4WD

ok my husband and I are getting ready to buy a 2014 Silverado 3500 HD. he thinks he needs a 4WD and I think we should stick with 2WD. it looks a little lower to ground not so high to step up and will pull a couple hundred more pounds. Why do men think they have to have 4WD? please just want to hear what others have to say about the difference. We r getting 3500 cause in a few years will trade TT up to 5th Wheel and don't want to worry about if we can pull what we buy. Just want some opinions. Thanks everyone :)

    I bought a 2wd dually, towed the trailer out back on our lot, and got stuck (rain made it softer than I expected).

    I had to use our suburban as an anchor for the winch on the dually to pull it free.

    I have since traded the 2wd for a 4wd.
    I don't want it the rest of the time.. for all the reasons u mentioned, plus a tiny bit more gas mileage
