2WD vs 4WD

I could tow with a 4x2...but elect to stick with a 4x4.
I'm considering an F650, 750, or some other mediumish size truck as a future tow vehicle-most likely will be a 2-wheel drive and I'll adjust some of the situations I'd get myself into accordingly-and probably use a 4x4 for some stuff in town and such that I expect to be in dicey situations.
I have driven most of the eastern seaboard hauling my fiver in 4-wheel, not by choice.
One of the perks today is that dealers tend to stock a lot more 4x4's that 4x2's and I honestly think that some of the late season deals you'll get on a 4 wheeler won't be found on a similar 2 wheel drive simply because the truck doesn't exist.
Maintenance has changed so much over the years-once upon a time you expected to put a lot more money into a 4x4-not anymore.
