WOW! Lit a fire with this one. Almost as good as a Walmart or SRW vs DRW thread. Noticed that vast majority have it for reasons other than solely as the 5er TV & use it regularly off road or snow for play or work.
In that situation I'd definetly have one too. Not too many admit that they bought 4WD 'just because almost everyone else has one' or, 'you never know' type reason.
My 06 Chevy also happens to be the very first automatic that I have ever owned. I used to take a 2WD van all kinds of crazy places. Amazing what you can do when you can feel what is going on between tire & ground with a manual clutch.
A feature that would be nice on the otherwise 2WD would be the ability to lock the rear diff. That might have easily gotten me out on the 2 times we did get stuck. There was the weight of the trailer on the truck both times but slick is slick & a few thousand pounds of weight did not help.
