30 amp / 50 amp
We're considering a new FW and a couple of the options are upgrading the single AC to 15k with 2nd AC prep (I believe the prep is standard). There is also a 30 to 50 amp option. First question; if I...

I think you all have answered my question. I can likely get by on 30A with 1 15k AC and watching my power consumption, but I should carry both 30A and 50A cords...just in case. :-)

Or, if your 50 amp rig has a 125/250 VAC 50 amp twist-lock receptacle that the power cord plugs into, you could use an adapter like THIS in conjunction with a 30 amp extension cord. I use this adapter to connect 2 paralleled Yamaha EF2000is generators with 30 amp output carried in the bed of the truck to the 50 amp twist-lock generator receptacle on the front of the 5th wheel to run one 15K BTU A/C to precool the 5th wheel on the road in hot weather.

Putting 50A on a 30A cord is not a good electrical choice plus it is illegal electrically if something happened your insurance co would not pay off. 30 amp cords can be had on line and are cheaper, lighter and usually ok for most times of the year and usage. I got may adapters from Amazon and can run on any amperage I need and legally.
