My current tow vehicle has 4x4 and I probably will never buy another truck without 4x4. To me it is insurance.
In two years I have only needed it twice. Once was to get to the hospital over 6 inches of ice. The other time was in a campground during a monsoon rain. This particular time I could have probably waited but didn't have to because I had the 4x4.
Since we like to camp in the mountains, I have used the 4x4 on several other occasions, but only because I wanted to, not because I needed to. I could have simply gone sightseeing elsewhere.
