50 amp to 30 amp

This one, unless I don't understand where twist-lock comes into the picture.

Many places sell a 50 to 30 amp reducer. All it means is that you can't run as many things with 30 amp as you can 50 amp...like air conditioners, microwave, toaster & hair dryer at the same time.

I have a 50 to 30 dogbone adapter like above. But since we often stay at a campground in the mountains that has only 30 amp service, I bought a 25' 30 amp cable with 50 amp twist lock on one end and 30 amp plug on the other. Much lighter, more flexible, and easier to handle, especially in cold weather, than the 50 amp cable.

I and I think others don't fully understand you post.
What connection does your Generator have?? A 30amp plug in or twist lock?? Is your 50amp cord a twist lock at your RV and plug in at the other?

I have the twist lock and thought I needed the high priced one. I paid $65.00 on sale at Camping World. The cheaper ones didn't seem to fit or stay plugged in.

Are you talking about the twist lock Marinco plug that connects to the RV? The other end plugs into 50 or 30 amps depending on the plug. 30 amps furnishes 110vac. The 50 amp furnishes 110vac to both sides. i.e. It could be 220vac although RVs don't use 220vac. They just use both sides of the transfomer and furnish 110vac to all circuits. Why tyey they don't furnish 220vac to the dryer is beyond my comprehension when it is available. May RV parks just furnish 110vac on both sides and being in phase isn't 220vac.

Not the correct adapter. He has a 50A cord coming out his RV needing to plug into a 30A outlet.

This is the correct adapter: 30A/50A adapter

For the campground electrical post, you need 30A male/50A female adapter.

IMHO that is the best one out there! The "D" handles make it nice to pull apart and the connectors are of much higher quality than the black one listed earlier!

You're right.. I got it backwards.

Did we figure out the twist lock thing? OP?

Sorry for the confusion - we just bought the fifth wheel and not sure except that it is 50 amp.

By twist lock I mean plug in and then twist to lock the plug. I guess I should make sure what is coming out of the FW before I ask the question.

I will go check and post again, thank you all for your comments.
