5000 GVWR Toy Hauler

I am looking to purchase used, but could be new, 5000 GVWR toy hauler. We have a V6 SUV with 5K tow capacity and would like to get a Trailer. It is easy to find 3500 or 7000 GVWR, but I have not been able to find something in-between.
We have two quads and maybe 500-600 extra camping gear/water. So, if it 3000 lbs to start and then add 1500 lbs, it is 4500 lbs plus. Any ideas would be helpful.
Thanks
  • You may be looking for something like this if you have to carry two quads. That takes a lot of space. But the critical question is, "How much payload do you have available for tongue weight?"

My first suggestion would be to ignore the "tow capacity" and concentrate on the PAYLOAD. You will run out of PAYLOAD long before you reach the "tow capacity". It is usually shown on the tire loading sticker on the edge of the driver's door.

Take your payload, subtract all the weight of all passengers and cargo and all accessories added since it left the factory. What is left is available for the tongue weight of the camper. The tongue weight of the camper will be 10%-15% of the camper weight.

The tongue weight of my toy hauler with two dirt bikes and no water is 11.6%.
