5th wheel age, how old is to old

Looking to buy a late model 5th, but I do not want any problems. How many years would you feel comfortable with in age when purchasing a used trailer.
I have a 26ft Jayco that is 2 years old, I just want a few more feet and a different design.
Thanks
charles
  • Bought 1997 Holiday Rambler Imperial 5th wheel a year ago. Its 22 years old. I'll tow it anywhere. Minor stuff I had to do. Seems to be a well built unit.
  • I would have to say original quality of build and how well cared for!
  • Like already, mentioned.....how its taken care of and perhaps where its spent most its life is a concern.
Plus, if its a better built rig like a Teton, Excel, Carriage, Lifestyle, or pre-2015 DRV, I'd be mush less concerned about its age.
  • Texas bakes uncovered RVs like Florida does. Just need to look carefully.
Watch for decals starting to peel, clear coat failing, roof sealant cracking.

Time is the next devil. Even stored undercover, seals start cracking after 7-10 years.
  • to me age on things doesn,t bother me ,its how it was cared for , and stored. like my aunts car 24yrs old in a garage drove on sundays .18k on it .. theres real good rv..s out there just gotta hunt.
