As noted some manfacturers will void the warranty if one is used. But many people do use them with no apparent problem. I don't remember ever reading any post where someone claimed any kind of failure due to using one. If you are still in warranty I would check to see if it would affect you. If you are out of warranty depends on whether you want to chance it or not.
