5th wheel hitch in truck bed with bed liner

I just bought a used 2009 Dodge 3500 with a plastic badliner. It has a goose neck hook up in the bed. I have a B&M hitch for the goose neck that came out of my old truck which had no bed liner.
My question is: Should I cut the bed lined out where the hitch goes or just put it on top of bed liner.

Thanks

    Nothing, just messing with ya!

Personally hate bed liners since nothing stays put!

When I was about 20 I was driving my Boss' Ranchero up a hill with the tailgate down and a small load of drywall in the bed. He had a bed liner. You guessed it I had drywall all over the road!

So you can see why I REALLY don't like bed liners.

Must not have made straps back then huh. LOL!

My Boss sent down the road. I was green!

HAHAHA!!! Been there done that. LOL!
  • One thing about a plastic bed liner.

NOT good if you also haul a truck camper.

Fact is, there is a sign, prominently displayed in the service area at Five Star RV, Henderson, Colorado that says they will refuse to install a truck camper in any vehicle with a plastic bed liner.

So keep that in mind, as many folks do use truck campers and other styles of RV's along with them.

    Like me. :B

No, I would not put a TC in my truck with the plastic liner. I don't think I will be going from a 40' 5er to a truck camper that would work with a SRW short bed.
  • allen8106 is right. My dealer installed my B&W companion hitch right onto the plastic liner in my truck. Being new I tend to trust more than I should without verifying. I called B&W and they said the companion needs to be attached directly to the metal. Thanks for the heads up. I'll be taking it back and getting it reinstalled.
  • I Cut out the Liner around the Hitch and it was installed to the Metal.
I am not really a Fan of Liners anyway.
I do not have a Tailgate. I am eventually going to get a V shaped one. When I was in Delaware, I purchased a 6ix Pack to enjoy with a Friend. I put it in the Back with a Concrete Block behind it to hold the 6 Pack in place. When we got to our Friend's House, I went to retrieve the Beer. Wouldn't you know it? I had no Concrete Block and no Beer. It was Glass Bottles. If it did not Break when it fell out, I hope somebody enjoyed it.
