5th Wheel lock to the truck

You guys must have very strong ambitious thieves in your area. Stealing a hitch takes way too much effort for the return.
It would be much easier to steal the entire truck.
Have you considered locking your engine to the frame?
If someone has the stupid ambition to steal a fifth wheel hitch a padlock or chain isn't gonna make a difference.

last summer I saw a couple B&W hitch heads (head only) on criagslist. can't imagine where they would get just the head from. unless....

I would think that anybody that stole one would be selling it for scrap. I can see it now, LEO stops pedestrian carrying one and asks him what he's doing.

Thanks for the replies. I don't always pull my hitch out, and just have some worries. I like the bicycle lock idea.

I think my whole hitch weighs about 290lbs. The may get parts but good luck on the rest. Then they also have to get the custom brackets to mount to a vehicle. 16k Superglide. I do put a lock so the pin can't be pulled when traveling but that's it.

I just drilled a hole near the end of 2 of my 1/2 inch hitch pins and put a Masterlock through the hole. Works for me.

I just picked the first place for reference to clips used with padlocks to secure pins in rail type hitches.

these may help for two part hitchs (B&W companion for example) as well, haven't tried myself..

Yeah - my uncle Joe's neighbor's wife's third cousin's brother-in law had one stolen also!

He now uses case-hardened steel chain and double Abus padlocks.

Chain passed through hole in bed & looped around the truck frame.

Also a Lojak hidden on the hitch!..;)..:W

For your friend Joe.....guaranteed third time will be a charm -
thieves will steal the truck and leave the hitch.

I thought that, too - but the locking pins wouldn't lock once mounted through the body "legs" and bedrails. I bought the Master Lock pins with the round "barrel" lock on the end. I have one locking the head to the body - I guess it will take a strong thief to grab the whole thing....LOL!
