You can tow a much bigger TT than a 5th wheel with your truck. That is because with a 5th wheel you carry 20-25 percent of the 5ers weight while with a TT you carry 10-12 percent of the TT's weight. And size for size, a TT overall weighs less to begin with.
Also, with a weight-transfer hitch, you can control how much weight is carried by the truck. The main advantage of a TT, IMO.
