Best reason to have one - besides being able to leave TG "up" for hitching, is factory TGs are frequently (and often, easily) stolen.
(If you use the factory gate, be sure to have theft prevention of some sort!)

In twenty some years of P/ups, I have never had a factory TG stolen -
('cause they are usually in storage in my garage, LOL) although
I know folks who had their factory TGs "grow legs".

Has some relevance to where you live - but more to where you travel.

Did the search and funny how every tailgate thread is a debate on whether they are necessary or a waste of money. My wife already tried to drive away with the tailgate up so this isn’t another debate thread. Looking for real advice on brands.
