Well, before you do anything check with Jayco to see if using a gooseneck ball adapter will void your frame warranty. Some companies do and some don't. Personally I think they put unnecessary stress on the 5th wheel frame but that's just how I feel. My BIL has pulled a 31' bunkhouse with one and pulled a boat behind the 5th wheel for several years with no issues I know of. But it's a short 5th wheel with no slides, and that may make a difference.

I have a reese HI rise fifthwheel hitch that goes into my gooseneck.Works great for what I paid 600.But I was at camping world today and seen a gooseneck adapter for sale for 397.00

Since you already have the B&W Gooseneck Turnover ball hitch why not buy the Companion?

You might look into one of these:Andersen Ultimate 5th Wheel ConnectionWeighs 32 lbs, easy in and out, attaches to your gooseneck. I'm thinking of getting one when we buy our fifth wheel.Personally, I would never put a gooseneck adapter on a 5th wheel. The frame is not designed for the extra stress and you may damage the frame. I found a 1 year old fifth wheel of the exact floor plan that I wanted for sale by private owner at a great price, but I passed on it specifically because he had a gooseneck adapter on it, and if there is frame damage, it's hidden by fiberglass so you wouldn't be able to see it.Good luck!

Well, before you do anything check with Jayco to see if using a gooseneck ball adapter will void your frame warranty. Some companies do and some don't.

Thanks Howard! I emailed the sales guy I've been working with to get the advice from his service department and the Jayco Rep to see if the Ranch Coupler Adapter will put too much stress on the frame or if it'll support it. I see a lot of good reviews on etrailer and Amazon for this setup but that doesn't mean it's a good idea.

Another vote against gooseneck adapters (too much potential to damage the pin box and trailer frame) and for the Andersen Ultimate. It's a great solution if you want to use your turnover ball.

This topic has come up in the past too, I've pulled a thread from 2009 that sheds some light on your question.

Member 'richcheck' did a good job explaining the concern about using a gooseneck hitch. One thing to be aware of is that a gooseneck hitch may void your warranty, so as already mentioned check with the manufacturer of your RV to see if this would be an issue.

I seen an adapter just the other day that is high in the truck bed like a 5th wheel hitch but has a receiver cup on top to receive the ball that is attached to the pin on the 5th wheel and only looks to be about 4-6 inches long, for the piece that bolts to the RV keeping the leverage point low. Its similar to the Andersen but ball is attached to the rv and the receiver is cupped on top of the hitch, just the reverse of the Andersen.

Thank you! I think after the more research I've done this weekend, I'm just going to go with the Companion Slider made to work with my B&W gooseneck hitch. That seems to be the best option for strength and quality of ride.
