5th Wheel to Gooseneck Adapters

Hey all! We are getting close to purchasing a used 5th Wheel from a dealer and was thinking maybe they would throw in the hitch since they seem firm with the price-not sure they will go for it but figure it is worth a shot.

We currently have a gooseneck hitch on all our trucks because we have a construction company. We are wondering what would be the best adapter/most recommended to get for the fifth wheel. It looks like there are a few different options.

Thanks!

  • If your trucks are running the B&W Turnoverball gooseneck hitch, I would recommend the B&W Companion 5th wheel hitch that mounts in the Turnoverball receiver.

Wow it's nice to see someone that knows more than the manufacturers. :R

  • There are several hitch MFRs that make a hitch that will attach to your Goose Neck Ball and are fairly easy to remove. There is also the Reese Goose Box, which replaced the current Kin Pin Box on the 5er. It has been approved by some MFRs, but I don't think by all.
  • 5th wheel trailers are not structurally designed to be gooseneck trailers. They don't have the heavy steel and gusseting around the crown that a gooseneck trailer has, and the higher loading imposed by a gooseneck adapter can lead to structural failure in the pinbox and surrounding frame area. 5th wheel trailers are designed to be pulled with 5th wheel hitches.
