I have watched experienced 5er owners and experienced TT owners backing into campsites and both make it look very easy.
I have also watched, less than experienced, owners of both backing into campsites, and both had all kinds of problems getting in.
As far as backing goes, I think it's all a matter of your own frame of mind and determination to learn how to do it. Neither is better than the other. As stated above, they are different, not one better than the other.
Towing? I've read on these forums that towing a 5er is easier and nicer than a TT. I've never towed a 5er, but I have towed different TT's with different tow vehicles. And if the TT and tow vehicle, with the RIGHT hitch system is in place, towing a TT can be a very, very enjoyable experience.
My current truck 3500 duly diesel, came equipped with the integrated brake controller. This is the first truck I've owned that has this. And the towing is so flawless, you really do not know a trailer is behind you, until you make a turn and look in your mirrors! A good "fit" is a good "fit!" Get the right match and a TT WILL tow flawlessly! The secret is to start with a tow vehicle that is NOT under par. You can't make an under par truck par, or above par, if it never had "it" to begin with. That is the true secret to a trouble free, care free tow, for either a TT OR a 5er!
