If you can find 12 Volt true deep cycle batteries, they will serve as well as 6 Volt GC batteries. GC's are true deep cycle, and cost per AH are usually the best value as they are mass produced and distributed. GC's are taller, and need different battery boxes that are hard to find locally.
You need to find out what your load will be and multiply by hours used to calculate the AH capacity you need (that will give you the absolute minimum AH needed). Multiply that by 2 if you want to keep SOC above 50% (or at least 1.5 for some slack).
Just as important as capacity is ability to recharge; you will need a good converter to recharge daily if that is your plan.
