We installed 2 6-volt in our last rig and a maintenance module on the converter (cheap converter) and those batteries served us for over 7 years and were still going when we traded - they were awesome.
This time (new rig) we just went with 2 12V because of the cost and effort to install a true battery box to house the 6-volt to allow for proper ventilation. If I don't get good service from these, I'll go ahead and convert to the 6V anyway.
