I too always had the Tekonsha Prodigy II proportional brake controller in my trucks until I got the 2010 Ford which had their built-in model.
The 2010 Ford BRAKE controller works very well for me stopping my trailer.

It does have one feature however which makes me wish I still was using my Tekonsha Prodigy.
It seems the Ford version is well integrated into the truck electronics and one feature monitors the speedometer. When the speeds drops down lower than 10MPH the Ford model Brake controller does not send braking signals to the trailer electric brakes when using the brake pedal. This is really evident when stopped at a incline at a stop sign. Only the truck brakes are applied when pressing down on the brake pedal. I always liked the idea the trailer brakes were locked down as well.
I can over-ride this bad feature for me by using the controller slide lever. Makes me lean over and use the manual control alot when on trips.
